So I completed Day 1 and have to say that I loved having the plans, but would do a few things different. But before I get into that, let me show you what I did like...

Gallon Man ClipArt and Words for activity on Day 3
In the lesson plans I have everyone making a "Gallon Man" here are the sheets you need to do so. The model is above and I printed out words so I could have it fast and easy for little ones.

If the above links don't work, I will not be able to mail out the docs this week. I'm really trying to focus on weeks 14-18 so I can get those to everyone this weekend. I did put the on CC 3, so hopefully you will be able to either get them off here or there. :)
Here's a little something not in the plans, but I thought I would share. It's great for kids 7 and older.
Click on the link to download both the worksheet and answers so they can self check.

As for the activity of the day, drumroll please...
Our infamous Earth Model!
Ball up your paper. Wrap more paper around, form a nice round shape.
Staple on plate. Repeat to form complete coverage.
Paint land and water.
Label inside.
Label outside.
Conclusion: This took way longer than expected. So if you like, do it, but if you don't, do the Play do version of this. Chances are it will be a lot easier. I told you I'd be honest. I don't care if it's my idea or not, I'd rather tell it like it is.
Same effect, much neater, prettier, and quicker. I saw this before but for some reason thought, my model would be way better. :)
If you don't have a good play do recipe, here is one I made over break. I really liked it and learned I haven't cooked mine long enough in the past.
Our infamous Earth Model!
First paint the layers.
Then let dry. Turn over and build a hemisphere. :)
Place paper over.
Fold edges in to line up with plate.
Staple on plate. Repeat to form complete coverage.
Stuff more balls inside, if desired.
Repeat with white paper.
Paint land and water.
Label inside.
Label outside.

Last but not least, make sure you know you don't have to do all the activities. Just one is sufficient. In fact, looking back I realize the egg activity and "Make Me Genius" video would have been enough. Some questions have come up about the You Tube video I have for Day 1, please be sure to know it needs a "4" at the end. Here's the last web link as well, just in case it's giving you guys trouble.
I hope the plans didn't frustrate anyone today. For some reason I always think my crafts will resemble that of let's say... Martha Stewart. I categorize myself as a dreamer and visionary.. so I guess in my dreams I'm just like her.
If you do this, please send me a copy of your finished product to ccingit@gmail.com- I'd love to post it!
There is also another site I wanted to mention that had some great ideas for Week 13, just in case you wanted some substitutes. It's Melody at And Here We Go. She's fabulous and gives some easy stuff to use as well. Although there are tons of bloggers out there, she is my fav of week 13.
Tomorrow is Kush mining! Oh and BTW, I'm using gold cookie sparkles for the gold nuggets. Much easier than spray painting rocks. I mean really, what was I thinking?
See you tomorrow!
Blessings to all!

My 5 year old is currently painting her earth model. She is having a blast with it. Once it is dry I will take a picture and email it. :) And now I get to make egg salad for lunch. :) Thank you for your plans, they are awesome!
ReplyDeleteThat's great news!! I can't wait!
DeleteI loved this craft, my five yr old twins thought it was awesome and your comment that it took some time just meant we did it during their younger brothers nap time.
ReplyDeleteLoving everything I'm seeing on your blog ad plan on buying the rest of your plans. Thanks for all the great ideas!
