Can you believe I've been MIA for a month? I can't. It seems nearly hard to imagine it's been that long, but I guess I really needed that break after all. Anyhow, as with all breaks God moves and speaks to us in unexpected ways and I have had my fair share of that this last month.
More to come on that in a couple of weeks, but for now, I must say it will not be that long I wait to write again. I hope to finish out the reading post and a review on some curriculum soon- like this week. I'm getting ready to order my curriculum for next year, so I will share and love to hear about yours choices as well.
So stay tuned for more of that.
In the meantime I wanted to let you know that I have been asked to do a book club. Who hoo! I'm so excited! I never have time to read and this is usually the only way it happens for me.
First up it's with Beth from Classical Conversations at Home, Brandy from Half a Hundred Acre Woods, and Melody from And Here We Go.
Now most of you have probably heard of these blogs as they are such amazing ladies and wonderful resources. So I feel pretty honored that I was invited to join in on the discussion. Beth's desire is to start the conversation about classical education books that can help us become better educators for our kids. I love getting to know people and having a conversation that will spur us on to think about things in a different way.
The first book we are doing is Teaching the Trivium by Harvie and Laurie Bluedorn. They have graciously agreed to hosting a having a give away on each of our blogs.
The rules for entry are the following:
a) entries may be submitted on each blog, b) while entries may be submitted on each blog, duplicate winners are not permitted, c) winners will be selected randomly and verified to ensure no duplicates, (in the event of a duplicate, a second entry will be randomly selected as the winner) d) the giveaway will end at midnight eastern time on 5/14. winners will be announced on 5/15.
The way to enter is simple: Pin, Like, or Comment! Simple.
Pin it on Pinterest, Like it on FB, or Comment on this post. Then on May 15th we will announce the randomly selected winners. You can comment about book clubs, about books you'd like us to read, any great books you've read recently, etc.
If you like entering a contest with good odds, then that's this site. Last time I did a giveaway I had a whopping 18 entries. Yep, I know I was so popular... but that's ok we all have to start somewhere with these giveaways.
So really, it's worth it if you get a $30 book for free. :) I count each item as an entry.
We'd love to have you read along with us. It's quite a hefty book, so I'd suggest checking it out at your library now and/ or ordering it if you know you'd love to join in on the discussion.
Just a note, if you get it through Amazon's Kindle version, it is only one chapter. So although it's a long chapter, it's only one. Either way if you get that alone I'd love to hear what you think.
Talk to you all soon!
I've missed you and hope you are still all there in cyber land...
Blessings,
Crecia
I would love to win!
ReplyDeleteYippy! I would love to win, too. I began reading 'Teaching the Trivium' a while back, but got distracted with another book. This posting reminded me that I need to grab it back off my bookshelf and dive into it. Thanks!

ReplyDeleteThat one is on my to-read list. I'm looking forward to the discussion! And, of course, I'd love to be entered in the giveaway. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for the opportunity to enter your contest. I love your blog. I just finished reading Susan Wise Bauer's book and it was very helpful to me as a new homeschool mom. The areas that helped me the most were "understanding why we should read to our children" and why we "use manipulatives" when teaching math to young children. Although some of it was overwhelming since I know very little about classical education I still found it helpful. This is my second year of CC and we are really enjoying it.
ReplyDeleteAre you the starbucksgirl that posted the Essentials Checklist originated by mom2cohen on CC Connected? If so, would you mind uploading an editable version so that I can tweak it for my homeschool? -Darla
